Why porch screen fails
Porch panels are large, and large panels take on wind load. Add heat, pollen, storm debris and a dog that likes to watch the yard, and the mesh eventually stretches, pulls out of the spline channel or tears along a bottom corner. Once one panel goes, the insects find it immediately.

We can rescreen only the damaged bays rather than the whole porch when the rest is still sound.

When all the mesh is the same age and sun-baked, doing the whole porch at once gives a consistent look and tension.
Pet-resistant lower panels
A common approach: heavy pet mesh on the lower reachable panels and standard or no-see-um mesh above.
