What usually goes wrong with a window screen
Most homeowners call us for one of a handful of problems. Mesh stretches and tears after a few Georgia summers. A limb or a storm pushes a screen out of the window. A pet leans into it. A frame corner separates and the whole screen won't sit in the track anymore. None of that means the screen has to be thrown away.
Torn, ripped or stretched mesh
We remove the old spline and mesh and rescreen the frame with fresh fiberglass, aluminum or pet-resistant mesh. Rescreening keeps your original frames, which is usually the most economical path when the frames are still solid.
Bent or separated screen frames
Aluminum window screen frames bend at the corners and pull apart at the joints. We straighten what can be straightened, replace corner keys, and rebuild the frame with new stock when the old one is too far gone.
Screens that won't stay in the window
Missing plunger pins, broken tension springs, snapped clips and missing pull tabs are the usual cause. We carry common residential screen hardware and swap it out onsite.
Screens that were never quite right
Screens cut short by a previous owner or a previous repair rattle, let insects past the edges and pop out in the wind. We measure the actual opening and correct the fit.
Repair or replace?
If the frame is straight and square, rescreening is almost always the better value. If the frame is crushed, badly corroded or the wrong size for the opening, a new custom-built screen is the more durable answer.
